Yesterday I had a long conversation with www.tpchealthcare.com about a whole wide range of topics surrounding wireless voice over IP and security. It seems that there are wide ranging discussions about this in the enterprise, primarily for performance reasons.  However the baseline is planning for the implementation, design, and overall an enterprise model such as AirDefense should be implemented across the entire healthcare enterprise ecosystem.  Attached are Cisco's guidelines for voice over IP deployments, a case study from Meru Networks, and an architecture review of AirDefense. You will note also that AirDefense is FIPS approved. Yes, this is Cisco 7920 phone, but in a nifty holster that probably is ideal for healthcare.  Since the 7920 is not IP54 rated, this definitely would help not having the phone potentially be damaged if dropped on a hard OR floor.
