This was a great conference today transcending all the business models of the medical device companies, infrastructure providers, and the likes of the regulatory community. We had a great day on the 19th; and I am sure more is to come, on a lot of levels. I have twenty pages of notes to go through and will have more of a structured blog in the next few days. Now that we have had the initial general session, as agreed by Arthur Gasch we should probably create sub-groups on all of these various topics. It is the beginning of the synergy that needs to and finally has happened. Oh yes, a lot of lively discussions as you can imagine. More detail on the days going forward as stated. The time today was centerd on a lot of topics, but the take away was pretty much common to all attendees, this is a good thing to get all the stakeholders together. With the new administration having their eye on healthcare, it is very timely that we are meeting together. Thanks to Ricky Hampton, Elliott Slone, and Don Witters that made this all come together. Thank you all for your support of this initiative, as it is needed, and I am sure that we will as a group will drive forward the right business and technical direction for the healthcare enterprise. In closing I will be preparing an article (draft) is done regarding DUT(Device Under Testing), SLA (Service Level Agreement), and QoS (Quality of Service), for www.medsp.com, should go out next week. In the meantime, a lot of the discussions as you can imagine spanning WIFI, DAS, in/outpatient/home healthcare, infrastructure providers/medical device manufactures/application providers, etc. All in all in the few hours we managed to end up with cooperative goals and next steps. I am providing a copy of the article that I wrote for Biomedical Instrumentation and Technology that came out in the November issue, (2008). This article is also on www.veriwave.com web site. Ironically, a fair amount of discussions touched on this. The outcome of this is to addreess IEC 8001, of which I see RMON of the area of in-building wireless systems to become a needed reality. You will see in my article that I have mentioned Airwave. This most recently was acquired by Aruba Networks of which I feel was a great acquisition and clearly positions Aruba as providing the right toolbox for helping healthcare achieve their goals in the management of the SLA and QoS end of the WLAN infrastructure. I hope all made it all out with the weather here in Philadelphia. was very fortunate being local to Montgomery County. May all attendess have a Merry Christmas and a Joyous Holiday season. Please also see the WLAN capacity calculator from Veriwave. An excellent toolset to validate the SLA and QoS of a deployment model.
