Was on a conference call with a very long time working business associate that we go back to the Siemens Medical Systems, Inc. days that he now is now part of Ascom. www.ascom.com. We started to discuss the prevailing clinical issues about alarm management as related to risk analysis and improvements of clinical work flow and process. I temper this with actually how do you quantify the improvements in work flow?…that is a whole other series of discussions.
There are several middle ware software companies that are attempting to address the alarm, alerting, and workflow management issue. What ASCOM provides from our view point is a “complete hardware and software end to end solution”, of which they are now recognized to be the market and global leader in this space. Having a solution provider that provides such a tightly integrated solution will in our opinion decrease risk, lowers management costs, and improve overall outcomes. In essence it is “one throat to choke”, and no finger pointing. Been down this road before as the application software provider may tend to point the finger at the hardware provider as well as vice versa when the deployment process happens or is challenged. It just is what is it is; when you are dealing multiple disparate entities.
