While I have been attending HIMSS for several years; each year this conference gets bigger and bigger. Wish it could have been in sunny San Diego, CA again, but it simply outgrew the convention space. It seems only can the McCormick place handle HIMSS 2009, just like RSNA.  While the traditional annual event has the big names in software there (Cerner decided not to come), in review it seems that there is a lot of new wireless infrastructure companies and also wireless device connectivity companies.  This now moves out of the traditional WLAN (802.11a/b/g/n), to complementary enterprise wireless offerings.  This extends to enterprise wireless security offerings, cellular and PCS integrators,  DAS (Distributed Antenna  Systems), the plethora of RTLS providers, and a host of wireless sensor companies. Based upon timing, (these events tend to be 20 hour days) I intend to post daily content on a review of some of these emerging technologies in this space.
