Thanks to a lot of hard work by Tim Gee, the first ever medical connectivity conference has finally come together. This should be an exciting two days September 9 and 10 at Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA. These two days are jam packed with a concentrated agenda of presentations and discussions that have been refined to hone in on really important topics in the medical connectivity space. The conference is timely in light of all the changes in the wireless, sensor, and the "connectivity" space that will impact healthcare in a clinical, technical, and financial sense from 2009 and beyond. In other larger venues such as www.himss.org, the important topics and planned presentations that will be presented simply sometimes get diluted down. A combination of great thought leaders in the medical device and healthcare industry as well as attendees will stimulate some lively discussions, but also hopefully help shape proactive changes in this space. Integra Systems will be presenting on the morning of 10th and conducting the workshop on DAS (Distributed Antenna Systems), the afternoon of the 10th. A lot of innovative sponsors such as www.capsuletech.com will be in attendance unveiling their newest platform addition. However, unlike typical exhibitions this conference is focused on the education surrounding this space. Foremost will be the upcoming guidelines, IEC 80001, pending draft approval of 802.11n on September 11, and public safety notices of approval for in-building coverage. The presentations will be strictly limited to this content with unbiased non-mention of any specific companies technology and/or solution offerings.
