Over the past several decades “chip” based smart cards have been used virtually by all of Europe and pretty much the rest of the world. The use has been from merchant transactions to health identity cards and other modalities. However in the United States we are still using the traditional magnetic stripe on the card that is open big time. That will be all changing in 2015…and is changing now as we speak…due to security requirements for merchants and the financial transaction industry at large. Many ask why was not this done before? It simply boiled down to infrastructure cost requirements for proprietary readers and the cost of the cards…infrastructure costs/versus fraud costs. Integra Systems, Inc. is fortunate to be working with Finis Connor the CEO of Blustor. Finis is the legend in the storage and disk drive industry. Just think of the 3.5″ disk drive. He co-founded Seagate and Founded Conner Peripherals. We have completed a MOU (Memorandum of Understanding), about how our two companies can work together to develop innovative next generation “smart”, smart card solutions for the healthcare and medical device marketplace.
