Today I had a long discussion with Veli-Pekka Ketonen, CTO of 7 Signal. Four years ago Integra Systems, Inc., was approached by this company out of Finland. They now have a United States location in Akron, Ohio. Ironically, Akron was somewhat where the WLAN had a birth place as AiroNet (since purchased by Cisco…the rest is history)…started close by. The 7 Signal technology is somewhat the same as what the cellular industry has used to evaluate the SLA of the 5 (9)s, but now can be used for the WLAN. This is taking best practices from the cellular industry to the WLAN. In the enterprise healthcare WLAN there does need to be a way to “monitor”, not just the spectrum, but the integrity of the network. From the attached initial study…this could be a real eye opener for the validation and verification of the quality and risk through constant monitoring. All this adds to making a difference to decrease potential risk and in line potentially with IEC 80001.
